This Payment Service Just Made Your Job That Much Easier
It’s 2022 and weddings, like the rest of the world, are adhering to new trends. There are still some folks having traditional ceremonies and that’s great. But, we have seen that design and personal aspects of weddings are constantly emerging. Weddings are getting smaller, more creative and overall versatile. Weddings don’t have one clear look anymore; I’m all for it.
With all these things in mind, I get it. I know that being successful in the wedding industry is tough. People either don’t really like weddings, they think your job is easy, or their main problem — weddings are too expensive. Despite weddings shifting in size or decor style, there are still costs that both the client and you worry about being paid. I have some good news for you.
I started to read this New York Times article about the magical world of Maroo. Maroo is a wedding-minded payment service that prides itself on the “book now, pay later” method. This is so couples have the chance to pay off their wedding vendors — within the span of 12 months. My favorite part? Maroo is a payment service made specifically for wedding planners, event vendors, and the couples paying the big bucks. It’s completely tailored for us.
Essentially, Maroo allows wedding planners to let their customers pay in a timely manner that works for them. It is curated to help you, the planner, bill your clients. You also don’t have to worry about reminding them to pay and or keep track of all those dang invoices.
Maroo makes more room for fun between you and your customer. Maroo’s website states that there is “an increase in sales conversion rates by 58%” for those using their service. This is probably because of how Maroo makes the hard part — payments — less strenuous.

Advertising this service will increase the amount of times a couple will say, “I do” to you. If other vendors were able to see their sales conversions go up by 58% percent, then I highly recommend advertising this service to your clients. Maroo has a climbing 1,966 followers on Instagram — but, it is still so new. It is a service you can take advantage of that not all planners know about yet. Offering something so curated for your business, and mutually beneficial for your client, will set you apart.
When reading about Maroo something clicked for me. This platform is great and super tailored for wedding planners and yada ya but whoa, it can really help our relationships with clients. This service means we have the chance to change the perception of how unmanageably expensive weddings can be.
Let’s face it, all the costs will still be there for your client. But they don’t have to be so intimidating. One benefit I foresee with a service like this is making the information about invoices that much easier. For someone who is not math-minded like me, I could really see myself appreciating that aspect.
The first step to getting the full benefits of a service like this is knowing your costs and what you will be charging. To help myself have a better idea of what a planner should be charging, I watched this video. It offers five ways you could charge your customers and I think it’s a great source for getting your wheels turning about how you might want to be charging and or change your charging.
As I am still learning about the industry as a whole, one key thing about finance sticks out to me: you don’t want your client getting upset about a fee they didn’t realize was there. Maroo seems to handle that issue by streamlining the paying system. For that alone, it’s worth giving it a go.
This blog is all about reimagining traditions and I think Maroo falls within that category. That is because you have to appreciate the different backgrounds and financial situations different couples will come from. Maroo offers a service that gives a couple a year to figure out paying their invoices in a way where their big day doesn’t have to be so financially daunting. After all, I know you just want your clients to have fun and enjoy their special moment.
I really like what this service seems to be offering — but, I want to hear from you all. Have any of you planners out there used Maroo before? Maybe you will after reading this. For anyone who has experience with Maroo, please leave me a message on the right-hand side of your screen letting me know how it worked for you.
Until next time,
Thalia
