Why I Love Being A Non-Profit Professional
One of the biggest reasons why I love working in the nonprofit/charity industry is because of the chance to advocate for those who cannot do so for themselves. In the spring of 2024, I worked closely with the adult day program leads at Villa Esperanza Services to attend rallies protesting California Governor Newsom’s May revise budget, which threatened significant cuts to previously promised funding for the disability caregiving industry. I created posters, wrote emails to our entire database encouraging them to sign petitions, launched an “Advocacy” story highlight on Instagram with resources, and drafted letters to legislators. I also developed an advocacy strategy document with research and tactics for our organization to better advocate for our industry.
